Virat Kohli is currently busy playing the ongoing Asia Cup for India in the UAE. In recent times, he took some rest from cricket after the England tour. But, since his comeback in this tournament, he played some good knocks for his team. Against Pakistan, he scored 35 runs off 34 balls.

Then, in the second match, he scored 59* runs off 44 balls against Hong Kong. But, former Pakistan player Rashid Latif slammed the former Indian skipper for his batting ability in the shortest format of the game. He said that Kohli has never been a good T20 batter.

“Virat Kohli can never become Suryakumar Yadav or Rohit Sharma.” – Rashid Latif

While talking to a Pakistani news channel, Rashid Latif said that Virat is an exceptional batter in the ODI format. But, he has never been a good player in T20s. He said: “No one is even close to Virat Kohli in ODIs, but he has never been a good T20 player. He has a good average, but not strike rate.”

Rashid also added that Virat can never become like Suryakumar Yadav or Rohit Sharma. He also pointed out that this is the reason he has never won the Indian T20 League so far for his Bangalore franchise. “It is not a matter whether Virat Kohli plays slow or fast. He starts hitting after playing 30-35 balls. Rohit Sharma is the kind of player that utilizes powerplay. Virat can never become Suryakumar Yadav or Rohit Sharma. His style of play remains the same in the Bangalore franchise as well, that’s why he could never become a champion.” Rashid Latif concluded.

Speaking of Kohli’s career in the T20Is for India, he has played 101 matches so far with 3402 runs. He has scored those runs at a staggering average of 50.77. For his Bangalore franchise, Kohli has played 223 matches where he has scored 6624 runs, at an average of 36.20. In the 2016 season, he scored 973 runs in 16 matches, including four centuries. Meanwhile, he will be in action again on 4 September 2022 against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022.
