Virat Kohli drops a hint on ABD’s return to Bangalore
AB de Villiers has been an integral part of the Bangalore team in the Indian T20 League since he joined them in 2011. But the South African legend announced his retirement from all forms of cricket ahead of the 15th edition of the ITL. During his time with Bangalore, he has played many crucial knocks for the team often rescuing them from difficulty. Although, the Men in Red and Black are having a good season and are in contention for a spot in the playoffs they have missed De Villiers in the middle order.
Virat Kohli, the former captain of the franchise and an important part of the team since the inception of ITL shared a close bond with ABD. The duo stitches some memorable performances for the team in the middle order over the years.
During a conversation with ‘Mr. Nags’, Kohli dropped a big hint on the return of Mr. 360 degree to the team. Notably, Mr. Nags is a character portrayed by content creator Danish Sait for the Bangalore franchise. Coming back to Kohli’s conversation he stated that he misses his South African friend.
“I miss him a lot. I speak to him regularly, quite regularly. He keeps messaging me,”- Kohli said.
“He was in the US recently watching golf. Augusta Masters is what I heard it was called. So, he told me he was there experiencing it with his friends and family,”- he added.
“So, we stay in touch and he’s very keenly watching Bangalore and hopefully here next year in some capacity,”- Kohli said while getting candid with his comment giving a smile.
Kohli was soon heard asking with a chuckle- “Did I spill the beans?”
Speaking of De Villiers, he joined Bangalore in 2011. He played for the team for 11 seasons and helped them reach the finals in 2011 and 2016. However, ABD failed to lay his hands on the coveted trophy during his playing time.
However, Kohli’s statement has piqued the interest of the fans and they will be waiting to see whether ABD comes back to the ITL as a player or in some other role.
