During the 2021 edition of the Indian T20 league, Virat Kohli shocked one and all when he announced his decision to step down as Bangalore’s captain after the completion of the season. The franchise posted a video on their social media handles where the batting maestro was seen speaking about his decision. He cited workload management as the reason for quitting the captaincy.
Post Kohli’s decision to quit captaincy, the Bangalore fans started speculating about the new skipper. Agter months of speculations, a clear picture is not out yet. Some say that the franchise will name Faf du Plessis as the skipper. However, what would happen if Kohli ends up leading the 2016-finalists once again?
According to a journalist named Abhishek Tripathi from Dainik Jagran, the Bangalore-based franchise are yet to accept Kohli’s resignation as captain. A passionate fan on Twitter went on to share the same. If this is true, then the Bangalore fans would be really happy. As Bangalore’s captain, the 33-year-old has won 64 out of the 140 games and has a win percentage of 48.16%. He led the franchise to the final in 2016. However, he himself had stated that he needed some space. While speaking on the Bangalore-based podcast, he had said that it was totally his decision to drop the captaincy. Now, taking the fact that he is not the Indian captain, there is a possibility he can take back Bangalore’s leadership. However, it’s just another speculation. A clear picture will be out on March 12, when the franchise will announce his skipper via an event in Bangalore.
