Virender Sehwag names Afghan player who can bag IPL contract in 2022
Indian fans would not have watched an Afghanistan match more keenly than on Sunday, 7th November. They were interested in the match because the result of the game was to have an impact on India’s fate in the tournament. India needed Afghanistan to beat New Zealand to give India a sneak through to the semifinals of the 20-20 World Cup. However, that didn’t happen as New Zealand made easy work of the Afghan team, beating them by 8 wickets.
While the team had a poor outing, Najibullah Zadran impressed the cricket fanatics with an astounding show. The southpaw scored 73 off 48 balls to help Afghanistan post 124/8 in 20 overs. Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag, who has watched Zadran very closely in Abu Dhabi T10, feels Zadran may well be seen smacking lusty blows in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
“I have seen him in T10 league. He can handle spin and pace with equal ease and I think an IPL contract isn’t far away,” said Sehwag on Cricbuzz live.
“It looked like he was batting on a different pitch. He negotiated the spin duo of Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner well. And even in James Neesham’s first over, he smashed a couple of boundaries,” said Sehwag.
Zadran will have an opportunity to attract a few more eyeballs in the fifth season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League. The destructive batter will play for Deccan Gladiators alongside some big names like Andre Russell, Evin Lewis, Ravi Bopara etc
