Wasim Akram gives brutal reply to fan for ‘you didn’t pick Shoaib Malik earlier’ remark

Pakistan is having a torrid time in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. In the game against India and Zimbabwe, they might have won but their inability to handle the pressure has cost them these games. Now, they have lost two games out of five in the Super 12 round and are on the brink of elimination. Also, not to forget, their journey to the semis is dependent on other teams’ results.

Meanwhile, 1992 World Cup winner, Wasim Akram has complained about Shoaib Malik’s exclusion from the national side. The former said that the Green Brigade is facing middle-order batting issues but a player such as Malik is sitting out. Akram said that he would have urged the selection committee to include Malik ahead of the showpiece event.

“From past one year, we knew that middle-order is weak. Shoaib Malik is sitting here. If I was captain, what would have been my end goal? To win the World Cup! I would go to any means to achieve that. If I want Shoaib Malik in my team, I will tell chairman and selectors that I won’t play in the World Cup if I don’t get my player,” Akram said on A Sports.

During the show, the former left-arm pacer had an awkward moment. Apparently, a fan reminded Wasim about him, not including Malik in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 before. To which, the former said that he doesn’t prepare his team on a piece of paper

“When you were asked to pick your T20 World Cup team in a show, you didn’t pick Malik. Apart from Azam in place of Haider, he kept the same team,” a fan asked Akram.

“Bohot time hai aapke paas. This happened during a series. As an ex-cricketer and commentator, jab mere se pucha jaata hai ki aap apni XI banaayein, this is the last thing I want to do. It’s so boring. Toh mujhe vo team dete hain, main kehta hu haan ye hi theek hai,” said Akram. “You think main vahan baithkar poori kitaabein nikaalkar likhta hu? No, I don’t.”
