Wasim Akram warns Babar Azam and Co ahead of their final two games of ODI World Cup 2023
The Pakistani Cricket Team scored a massive win over Bangladesh on Tuesday by 7 wickets. This was the third win for Babar Azam and his side in the ODI World Cup 2023 and it had come after a string of four successive losses.
Babar Azam and his side have played seven games so far winning three and losing four. The 1992 World Cup winners are now in the 6th place in the table and have two huge games left to play.
Winning the final two games of the ODI World Cup 2023 alone isn’t enough for Pakistan. They also have to depend on other teams and their results to go their way to make it to the semi-finals.
Wasim Akram sends warning to Pakistan cricket team –
After their seven-wicket win over Bangladesh on Tuesday in Kolkata, Pakistan has got a new lease of life in the ODI World Cup 2023. The next game for Babar Azam and his side is against New Zealand on the 4th of November. This will be followed by their last league phase game against England on the 11th of November.
Wasim Akram was recently speaking to a Pakistani news channel where he called England a dangerous side. The 57-year-old said “I’m scared of England because they are out. They are going to play fearless cricket. They have nothing to lose. They will be aggressive and will intend to spoil someone’s party.”
England came into the ODI World Cup 2023 as the defending champions but are bottom of the table so far. Their 100-run loss to India last Sunday in Lucknow has eliminated England’s chances to make it to the final four stages.
The former Pakistani skipper further said “They (Pakistan) can only do one thing. They just have to win their games and then hope and pray that other teams provide favourable results. Because those things aren’t in your control. If New Zealand loses by a big margin, again, that’s not in Pakistan’s control. They should focus on their cricket. The next two games, against big teams,”
India heads the table with 6 wins from six games. South Africa needs to beat New Zealand to overtake India and head to the number one spot. Rohit Sharma and his men play Sri Lanka in their 7th game of the ODI World Cup 2023 on Thursday in Mumbai.
