The World Cup winner Lionel Messi did not have a great outing in the end with the Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) as he left the club as a free agent after the end of the 2022-23 Ligue 1 season. The former Barcelona player had a below-average performance for the club and was trolled by the PSG fans. Now, he has joined USA’s Mega League Soccer (MLS) and he would be playing for Inter Miami, a club owned by former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham.

Messi is currently with his national side and playing International Friendlies. Argentina is the world champions as they won the FIFA World Cup last year in Qatar where he had seven goals and three assists to his name in the tournament. Despite his disappointing departure from PSG, the Argentina captain demonstrated that he is still a threat in a Beijing friendly against Australia on Thursday.

The attacker made a beautiful play with Enzo Fernandez and scored a beautiful goal in less than two minutes after kickoff. The Chelsea midfielder gained possession near the halfway line, advanced into the Australian half, and passed the ball to Messi, who was outside the opposition box. After receiving the ball, the captain of Argentina finished in his signature fashion, curling a shot into the upper left corner.

The club will have to do what they can to replace him: Kylian Mbappe

Messi received poor treatment from fans during his final months in France, with the exception of being booed at his final PSG game. In addition, his performance declined, and as a result of an unapproved trip to Saudi Arabia, he was given a club suspension. However, his PSG teammate, Kylian Mbappe supported the 35-year-old.

“We’re talking about potentially the best player in the history of soccer. It’s never good news when someone like Messi leaves. Personally, I haven’t really understood why so many people were relieved that he was leaving. We’re talking about Messi: he should be respected but instead, he didn’t get the respect he deserved in France. It’s a pity, but that’s how it went. The club will have to do what they can to replace him,” Mbappe was quoted as saying in Gazzetta dello Sport.
