Watch: Bismah Maroof brings out cradle celebration for daughter after scoring half-century
After losing their opening match of the Women’s World Cup 2022 to India, Pakistan have lost their second game as well. Australia completely outplayed the team in green in all there departments. Thus, the Lanning-led side remain unbeaten so far in the tournament.
After being asked to bat first, Pakistan were only able to score 190. However, one of the few positives for them was their skipper Bismah Maroof, who played a gem of a knock. She scored an unbeaten 78 off 122 deliveries.
Although she played a lot of superb shots, her celebration after getting to a fifty won the day. She did the “cradle” celebration and dedicated it to her daughter Fatima. After getting to a half-century in 96 balls, she signalled towards the dressing room and did the iconic celebration while looking at her little girl. It was truly a heartwarming moment.
The video of Maroof’s celebration instantly went viral. The mother-daughter duo then won several hearts as the fans couldn’t resist the cuteness. As far as her knock is concerned, it was studded with eight boundaries.

Despite her efforts, the Aussies chased the total rather comfortably. After being asked to score 191 in the second innings, they did it with 92 balls to spare. The Pakistan skipper wasn’t satisfied with their performance and felt that they lost too many wickets early on.
“We gave too many wickets away early on. We got a decent total, but we couldn’t stop them. We could have been better in the field, we dropped too many catches. In the meeting we had discussed that someone from the top order had to bat deep. It was a special performance with my daughter around, I had to make it count. We need to put up a good total, so that the bowlers get a chance to defend,” said Bismah Maroof during the post-match presentation.
