Pakistan is taking on England in a warmup game ahead of the crucial 20-20 World Cup Super 12 Stages. The Men in Green took a different approach to the game, as they did not open the innings with in-form Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. Instead, the middle-order batters, who have not been in the best shape, were given a chance to prove their worth.

Some of the batters managed to score decent runs, but the team kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Ifthikar Ahmed’s wicket was the most bizarre out of all the wickets that fell in the innings. After a mix-up with Asif Ali, he was run out in the 12th over.

Asif, the striker, tapped the ball and launched for a quick single. He, however, backed down from the run, but Ahmed had already crossed half of the pitch. The non-striker was forced to return to his crease, but he could not manage that in time. Jos Buttler quickly collected the ball and passed it on to Adil Rashid, who comfortably took the bails off.

The video of the same has gone viral all over the internet. Asif Ali has been criticised for backing out from taking the run.

As for the match, Shan Masood opened the batting for Pakistan, along with Haider Ali. Masood did well to score 39 runs in 22 balls, but he did not last long. Liam Livingstone got his wicket in the seventh over of the game.

After that, Pakistan kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The batters were always under pressure and could only manage 160 runs on the board for the loss of eight wickets in the rain-reduced innings of 19 overs.

The team led by Babar Azam would look to get their middle-order batting sorted before they play arch-rivals India in their first encounter of the Super 12 Stages. Melbourne Cricket Ground will host the mega clash on the 23rd of October.
