In the Vitality T20 Blast game between Sussex and Hampshire, Scotland’s Brad Currie made one of the greatest catches in cricket history. On Friday night, Currie amazed the cricketing world with his incredible fielding effort close to the boundary rope. He covered a lot of distance before jumping into the air to catch an absolute beauty.

Benny Howell and Chris Wood were in the middle of Hampshire’s 184-run chase, and it was the penultimate over of the match. Tymal Mills bowled a delivery into Howell’s slot and Howell hit it hard over midwicket with 23 runs needed from 11 balls, but Currie was there to put his name in the tournament’s history.

He ran to his left for a long time before grabbing a catch in the air with one hand. Currie’s teammates ran to him to congratulate him after the dismissal, and the Hampshire batter was completely taken aback. “I think you just act on instinct. Out came a flying version of me and it just sort of stuck,” Currie was quoted as saying after the match.

Currie performed really well with the ball, but what made headlines was his stunning catch. The bowler helped Sussex defend its score of 183 runs by taking three wickets, holding Hampshire to 177/9 in 20 overs. Currie bowled Toby Albert out for a duck in the second over of their run chase before bowling James Vince, Hamshire’s opener, out for eight runs.

Currie completed impressive figures of 3/27 in his four overs, which included five deliveries before Ross Whiteley was run out after being hit LBW. Since Sussex has only six points from nine games this season and is currently in ninth place in the Vitality Blast’s South Group, the win was crucial.

Some of the cricketer like Dinesh Karthik and England Test team skipper, Ben Stokes reacted on Twitter after seeing the catch. “The veteran Indian glovesman tweeted, “Has to be one of the greatest catches ever. The distance he covers before diving ..phewwwww,” Karthik tweeted. While on the other hand, Stokes came up with one word reply, “Filth”.
