After being humiliated in the first two matches, United was looking to make a strong comeback in this high-voltage match. However, they did not disappoint. United managed to win the match by 2-1.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo did not start the match for the home side. He was on the bench along with Harry Maguire. But, Ronaldo got involved in a funny incident with former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher before the match only. The video got viral and got surfaced quickly all over the internet.

Cristiano Ronaldo came on to play in the 86th minute against Liverpool

Speaking of the video, United legends Gary Neville and Roy Keane was working along with Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher for Sky Sports. Suddenly, Cristiano Ronaldo came over there as the host Dave Jones stated, “The main man is here tonight!”

But, he hugged and greeted both the former United teammates. On the other hand, he completely avoided Carragher’s attempt at a handshake. After his departure, Carragher said: “Totally blanked me!” 

Speaking of the match, Manchester United players started brilliantly against Liverpool. In the 16th minute of the match, Jadon Sancho opened the account for his side. Then, Liverpool tried to equalize. But, they failed as the first half ended at 1-0. In the second half, the home side made it 2-0, thanks to Marcus Rashford. Then, the visitors tried many attempts. But, they failed to score any. United defenders Varane, Malacia, Dalot, and Martinez were on a top-notch from throughout the match. However, Mo Salah still managed to score a goal out of nowhere during a corner. But, United players kept their nerves until the final whistle was blown. Thus, United registered their first win of this season. Now, they will be in action against Southampton on 27 August 2022 at the St. Mary Stadium.
