After a long delay, the ongoing first ODI between India and South Africa has started with the game being 40 overs a side. Ahead of the game, India won the toss and elected to bowl first. During the toss, stand-in skipper Shikhar Dhawan informed the commentator, Murali Karthik about the playing XI. In the team, Deepak Chahar hasn’t been included. In his place, Avesh Khan has been included in the side.

After the toss, Chahar was seen standing alongside Karthik who was giving the toss update to the fans watching the broadcast. The former’s expressions were the most hilarious ones. Talking about Avesh Khan, he was woefully out of form before the squad for the 20-20 World Cup 2022. This is the reason he has been excluded from the side for the showpiece event. Meanwhile, he has been given a chance to get back to form for the three-match ODI series against the Proteas. In the ongoing game, Khan hasn’t taken any wickets but has given only 20 runs in his first five overs. He bowled well with Mohammed Siraj during the mandatory powerplay overs.

It will interesting to see what he does in the remaining overs. Meanwhile, talking about the game, the Men In Blue has had a great start as they have taken three wickets for 71 runs. At the time of writing, the likes of Heinrich Klassen and Quinton de Kock have stitched a partnership of 39 runs. The partnership has been ended after Ravi Bishnoi trapped De Kock for lbw after the latter scored 48 runs. With this wicket, the visitors are in deep trouble as they have four wickets for 110 runs. The team is in dire need of a partnership for them to post a competitive total.
