Watch: Deepti Sharma Summarizes What Exactly Happened Before The Dismissal Of Charlotte Dean At Lord’s
On 24 September 2022, India Women managed a clean sweep over England Women in the three-match ODI series at the Lord’s. Eventually, it was the last ever match for the veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami. But, India Women managed to give her a fitting goodbye by winning the match and series.
However, after the match, the talking point was the dismissal of Charlotte Dean by Deepti Sharma. The Indian spinner ran out her at the non-striker end to take the last wicket of England. But, some players did not find that mode of dismissal an ethical one as they criticized the bowler. Now, Deepti Sharma opened up on the incident as the video went viral.

“We warned Her and what we did is an under the rules.” – Deepti Sharma
Speaking in a media interaction, Deepti Sharma said: “This series win is history. This is the first time We managed to defeat England in England by 3-0. Jhulu di also had a significant contribution in her last match.” Then, reporters asked her about the dismissal of Charlotte Dean. In reply, she said that they warned her and it was under the rules only what they did. “Nothing to say. It was a plan of ours. We already warned her as we saw her often leaving the crease. So, we just did what is under the rules and guidelines.” Deepti Sharma added.
Deepti also said: “See. every team wants to win only. We wanted to give her (Jhulu di) a good farewell by winning the match. So, as a team, we gave our full effort to win that match. We already warned her and told umpires about it. Still, she was doing that same, and thus, there was nothing to do from our side.”
Then, Deepti said that they will look to follow the dedication of Jhulu di for better outcomes in the near future. “ It (Jhulu di’s retirement) was an emotional moment for each and every player. So you can not stop your emotions at such moments. It happened on the ground and outside of teh ground also. So, it was a simple thing for everyone. Definitely, we will miss her on the field. We will look to follow her dedication to the game as much as possible n the field.” Deepti Sharma concluded.
