WATCH: Fans welcome Pakistan team upon their arrival at Hyderabad airport after seven long years
The Pakistan team has been gearing up for the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, Babar Azam and Co. will be facing the Netherlands on October 7 at Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad to commence their journey. However, ahead of the tournament, the Men in Green will be playing a warm match against New Zealand on September 29 and will be facing Australia on October 2.
However, they had an awful edition of the Asia Cup 2023 as they suffered back-to-back defeats against India and Sri Lanka. Notably, they will be looking to bounce back in the upcoming marquee event and also aim to get the number one spot in the ODI rankings.
Meanwhile, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam does not want to be in the top four (semi-final); instead, he wishes to win the upcoming marquee event. The stylish right-handed batter revealed that they have not played games since the Asia Cup 2023, as they wanted to give break to some of the players.
We wanted to give the players a break so they come back refreshed and with the hunger to win: Babar Azam
“The top four is a small goal for us. We want to come out as winners. We did not have enough time to put together a camp before the World Cup because we had been playing for too long continuously. We wanted to give the players a break so they come back refreshed and with the hunger to win. You play well when you have that hunger,” Babar Azam said in a press conference.
The Pakistan Cricket Team came to Hyderabad on September 27 to gear up for the ODI World Cup 2023. The Men in Green had received a wonderful welcome at the Hyderabad airport.
