For the first time in the last few seasons of the PSL, Mohammad Amir and Babar Azam are playing against each other. The latter moved to Peshawar Zalmi and was named captain of the side ahead of the ongoing season eight of the PSL. Meanwhile, in the second game of the tournament between Zalmi and Kings, Amir and Babar Azam were playing against each other.

The 2020 champions, Karachi had won the toss and asked their opponents to bat first. Meanwhile, during the sixth over of the Blue Brigade, Karachi, Amir threw the ball towards Azam. However, the ball was far away from the Pakistan skipper. It seems that Amir didn’t intend to hurt his former teammate from Karachi and the national side.

Babar Azam, Mohammad Amir, and Imad Wasim have respect for each other: Shoaib Malik

Meanwhile, the second game of the tournament also turned out to be a thriller. The opening game between the defending Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans was won by the defending champs by a run. In the second game, the 2020 winners won by two runs. After the game, Shoaib Malik from the Kings spoke about the above-discussed incident.

He said “(I believe) the respect element shouldn’t be missing. I’ve seen Babar, Amir, Imad… whenever they meet, they greet each other with respect,” Malik said in the post-match press conference.

“In this room, you won’t be compatible in the same way with everyone. Some would gel up well, you’d like some and you might not like some others. But that would only be on professional basis. I’m sure you all respect each other too.

“It’s good for the league. Once you enter the league, you need to focus on what encourages you to deliver your best. But we know no one crosses the line,” Malik said.
