Star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is gearing up for his return ahead of the final ODI against India at Rajkot. The 34-year-old last played for Australia during the Mumbai ODI against India in March this year.

In recent times, Glenn Maxwell has been laid low by injuries. The Victorian recently welcomed the birth of his first child just before the India tour. With the World Cup around the corner, Australia will be happy to have Glenn Maxwell in the side.

The Australian team has lost their first ODI series to India in India for 6 years. India won the Mohali ODI by 5 wickets and followed it up with a 99-run win in Indore. This is the final ODI for both teams to test out their combinations before the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Glenn Maxwell boost for the Australian Team ahead of Rajkot ODI

The 34-year-old Glenn Maxwell was seen sweating it out in the nets at Rajkot. The maverick Australian has been out of the game for over 6 months. The Mumbai ODI in March this year was the last game for Maxwell where he scored 8 runs with the bat.

Glenn Maxwell could be seen stepping down to the pace bowlers and going over the top. The video of the 34-year-old was shared on Twitter by an Australian journalist. The 10-second clip showed Maxwell timing the ball sweetly. Every hit from Maxwell’s bat will be music to the Australian fans just before the 2023 ODI World Cup.

The final ODI at Rajkot doesn’t bear any difference to the result of the series for both teams. Australia could give the likes of Tanveer Sangha a game, the young leg-spinner is the only player yet to play a game. Glenn Maxwell could also get a look-in and replace Matthew Short.

India is set to welcome Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli back into the playing XI. The two veterans had missed the first two games of the series. Jasprit Bumrah is also expected to make his comeback to the team and replace Mohammad Shami.

India had already announced that Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur were rested for the Rajkot game. It is learned that Hardik Pandya and Mohammad Shami too will miss the game. India will have just 13 players and it’s already confirmed Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma will open the batting.
