India kicked off their Asia Cup campaign on 28 August 2022 against arch-rivals Pakistan. After last year’s defeat against them, India was set to win this time around. They also won the match by five wickets. Hardik Pandya was the player of the match for his overall performance in the match. Indian batters were having some struggles while chasing the target of 148 runs. 

But, Hardik Pandya remained calm in the last over. His calm nature reminded fans of the former India captain MS Dhoni. He used to chase down targets for India with the same kind of nature. During that last over, he shared a gesture to Dinesh Karthik who was in the non-striking end. The video got viral and fans shared the same on social media platforms.

Hardik Pandya’s unbeaten knock ensured India’s victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022

Speaking of the video, India needed seven runs from the last over. Then, Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya were batting. Mohammad Nawaz came to bowl in that last over. However, Jadeja got out in the first ball. Hence, veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik came out to bat. Then, he took one run in the next ball. Hence, India needed six runs off the remaining four balls.

Meanwhile, Hardik tried to smash the very next ball through the covers. But, it was a dot ball as it went straight to a Pakistan fielder. Then, Hardik Pandya was seen doing a confident nod to Dinesh Karthik. It seemed that he was trying to say that he is confident enough to end the match for India.

But, he did not disappoint at all as he hit a six in the next ball. Thus, India won the match with two balls to spare. Hardik scored 33* runs off 17 balls. He also took three wickets for 25 runs in four overs. Hence, fans were overjoyed after seeing Hardik Pandya’s calm and composed nature while chasing the target in the last over just like MS Dhoni.
