The Indian cricket fans witnessed Kiwi commentator Ian Smith leave everyone in splits on Sunday. The former New Zealand wicketkeeper was heard speaking like Ravi Shastri which even prompted a smile from the former Indian coach.

Ian Smith could be heard and seen enacting how Ravi Shastri conducts the toss in a high-pitched tone. Former Indian Women’s cricketer Anjum Chopra burst out laughing as Ravi Shastri took it sportingly.

The former Kiwi international is known for his high energy and excitement when he is behind the microphone. It was evident during the Australia versus Afghanistan game in Mumbai last Tuesday.

Glenn Maxwell single-handedly took the Australians to a three-wicket win as he scored 201 not out. Chasing 292 to win, Australia were down in the dumps at 91/7 before Glenn Maxwell began his assault.

Moments after Glenn Maxwell hit the winning runs, Ian Smith remarked “He should not walk off the field, he must be carried”, this phrase became very famous and resonated with a lot of cricket fans.

At the time of writing, the Indian team had reached 266/3 from 38 overs with Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul batting. The Indian top four of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer had scored half-centuries.

The Indian team was looking comfortable as they were seeking to post a huge score against the Dutch side. India will next play New Zealand in Mumbai on Wednesday.
