WATCH: Inter Miami owner David Beckham adds finishing touch to Lionel Messi’s mural
Lionel Messi’s transfer to Inter Miami is a significant coup for the team, and his presence in the United States will undoubtedly generate a lot of enthusiasm and interest. Before Messi’s visit, Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham went the additional mile and was filmed completing touches on Messi’s teeth on a big mural apparently painted by his wife Victoria Beckham.
In an ESPN video, Beckham could be seen several feet above ground level applying white paint on Messi’s teeth in the mural. The mural’s specific location is unknown, however, most people believe it is in Miami. The Argentine striker will make his Inter Miami debut on July 21 when the Major League Soccer club hosts Mexico’s Cruz Azul in their Leagues Cup opener.

I made the decision that I’m going to go to Miami: Lionel Messi
David Beckham secured the biggest acquisition of his Inter Miami career earlier this summer, bringing Lionel Messi in on a Bosman move. The Argentine superstar became a free agent at the end of June after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired. The team has also signed Sergio Busquets and has been connected with Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba, and Sergio Ramos in addition to Messi.
“I made the decision that I’m going to go to Miami,” Messi said in an interview with Mundo Deportivo and Sport newspapers. “I still haven’t closed it 100%. I’m still missing a few things, but we decided to go ahead. If Barcelona didn’t work out, I wanted to leave Europe, get out of the spotlight and think more about my family.”
“After winning the World Cup and not being able to go to Barca, it was time to go to the U.S. league to experience football in a different way and enjoy the day-to-day,” Messi said.
Fans of Inter Miami CF have been waiting for Lionel Messi to put on the jersey and enter the field. Despite being heralded as the club’s headline signing of the summer, La Pulga has yet to be properly introduced to the fans. With 18 points from 21 games, the team presently sits at the bottom of the MLS’s Eastern Conference.
