Watch: Johnny Bairstow’s magnet hands
New Zealand is currently touring England for a three-match Test series. They are playing the first match of the series at the iconic Lord’s stadium.
Notably, this Test marks the beginning of the Ben Stokes- Brendon McCullum era in England Test cricket. Speaking of the match, Kane Williamson the skipper of New Zealand won the toss and decided the bat first in the match.
Before the beginning of the series the new English Test skipper, Ben Stokes batted for the return of James Anderson and Stuart Board into the side. As expected, both the veteran pacers were seen taking the field for their team in the match. Anderson repaid the faith Stokes showed in him by dismissing the two openers of New Zealand within the first three overs of his spell.
Johnny Bairstow played a big part in both the dismissals by taking two stunners while fielding at third slip. The first of the two wickets was that of Will Young who was dismissed from the first ball of the third over of the innings. Young got a thick outside edge and the ball was dying down as it reached the slips. Bairstow who was fielding at third slip dived toward his left and took a stunner of a catch with one hand.
WHAT A BALL.
WHAT A GRAB.
WHAT A START. #ENGvsNZ

The second catch was a bigger test of Bairstow’s reflexes. Tom Latham produced a thick outside edge of a back of a length delivery from Anderson. The ball flew straight to Bairstow, who failed to grab it in the first attempt. However, he showed great reflex to catch the rebound.
Talking about the match New Zealand is struggling with the bat. At Lunch Day 1, the Kiwis are 39 for 6 down. Kane Williamson’s lean patch has not left him as he has been dismissed by Matthew Potts for 2 runs. Potts has already grabbed three scalps for 8 runs, while Anderson has picked up two and Broad has managed one wicket.
