England Cricket Team consists of players from different heritages. In the 2019 World Cup, the team was hilariously called ‘World XI’ by Sunil Gavaskar. Players from South Africa, Pakistan, New Zealand, etc have played for the team in the last few years. Those players helped the team win the ODI WC in 2019. Three years later, the team has now won the 20-20 World Cup 2022.

After winning their second 20-20 WC title, the team was looking to go through with their traditional ‘Champagne’ celebration. However, the players included the likes of Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid. Watching this, skipper Jos Buttler asked the players to keep their celebrations on hold. The wicketkeeper batter and his players decided to wait for Ali and Rashid to leave the podium before they could celebrate with their Champagnes.

For the unversed, Islam doesn’t allow its followers to associate themselves directly or indirectly with alcohol. Both, Ali and Rashid are vivid followers of their religion. Over the years, they have avoided team celebrations whenever Champagne is involved. Meanwhile, both played notable roles in the team’s win in the summit clash. Rashid took two wickets and bowled a maiden over that proved worthy.

On the other hand, Ali played a cameo in the slog over to help Ben Stokes to take the team over the lines. On the leg-spinner Rashid, Buttler, in the post-match presser said “Adil’s over was outstanding, he’s always the guy we throw the ball to to take something happen. It wasn’t easy at all, got away to a decent start which controlled the run-rate, and that man Ben Stokes was there at the end.

With this win, England has become the second team after the West Indies to win two 20-20 World Cup titles. The Three Lions won their maiden 20-20 World Cup in 2010.
