In the SA20 League Sunrisers Eastern Cape won back-to-back titles by defeating Durban’s Super Giants in the final. On Saturday at Newlands Sunrisers Eastern Cape won by 89 runs. Sunrisers Eastern Cape topped the league stage of SA20. Even though they started the season with a slow start they won the SA20 title. This win was Sunrisers 6th win in a row.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape won the toss and elected to bat first. Coming to bat first Sunrisers Eastern Cape scored 204 targets. Sunrisers Eastern Cape got a good start as Tom Abell scored 55 runs from 34 balls and Tristan Stubbs scored 56 runs from 30 balls. Earlier, for the third wicket, Tom Abell and Jordan Hermann made a partnership of 90 runs from 50 balls as the duo put a team in a strong position.

Durban Super Giants captain got 2 wickets in an over as they looked to gain control of the match. But captain Aiden Markram scored 42 runs from 26 balls along with Tristan Stubbs who scored 56 from 30 balls as both remained unbeaten. They smashed 5 sixes and 7 boundaries together. They both added 98 runs from 55 balls these runs came in the last 4 overs of the match.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape dominated the whole game

In reply to Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s huge total Durban Super Giants never got into the game as they were able to score only 115 runs in 17 overs as they went all out. By the 11th over Sunrisers Eastern Cape were all over the Durban Super Giants as they took 6 wickets. Henrick Klaasen who put Durban Super Giants in the final spot was gone out on a golden duck by Ottniel Baartman. Marco Jansen took 5 wickets by giving 30 runs in four overs while Ottniel Baartman also grabbed 2 wickets by giving 17 runs.

Kavya Maran who is the owner of the team seems to be overjoyed as her team won the SA20 title again.
