India and South Africa met for the 3rd ODI of India’s tour of South Africa 2023 at the Boland Park in Paarl on 21 December. India registered its historic ODI series win against South Africa after winning the first and third ODI matches. Under the leadership of India’s wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul, the team showcased a stellar performance against the proteas.

During the second innings of the game, as India gave a huge target for South Africa to chase, a mini conversation between KL Rahul and Indian-origin South African bowling all-rounder Keshav Maharaj was recorded on the camera. Notably, Maharaj walked into bat while chasing a target of 297, and the popular song of the Bollywood movie Adipurush was played on his entry. KL Rahul discussed with Maharaj that whenever he enters the DJ in the stadium, play that song for him.

KL Rahul on India winning the ODI series against South Africa

After winning the third ODI match KL Rahul talked about the team’s performance and said, “Always love being around the boys. Nice to get back on the cricket field after a disappointing World Cup. Have played with a lot of them in the IPL, nice to get out here and play with them. Usually, my message is to always enjoy the game, to give your best and not worry about the rest.”

“They’re great cricketers but few of them haven’t played internationally so it’s about giving them some time to adjust. It’s about making their roles clear and they all gave their 100% so nothing more I can ask”, he added.

Further while talking about Sanju Samson’s century he said, “Sanju has been a phenomenal performer in the IPL, unfortunately has not got a lot of chances at the top of the order for various reasons but nice to see him do well today.”
