Watch: Marco Jansen received a serious blow against Avesh Khan during the fourth T20I match
India was in a do-or-die situation when they locked horns with South Africa in Rajkot on 17 June 2022. India was coming off a win in the third match of the series while the Proteas had an opportunity to wrap up the series once again. But, India prevailed again as they defeated the Proteas by a record margin of 82 runs.
Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik helped India to post a score of 169 runs in 20 overs. But, South Africa failed to chase it down as they crumbled under pressure completely. However, while chasing South African pacer Marco Jansen faced a major blow on his helmet against the Indian pacer Avesh Khan.
The blow on the helmet seems to be a serious one
Speaking of that incident, it was the 14th over of the South African innings when Avesh Khan bowled a bouncer to Jansen. The Protea batter looked to pull it away but failed completely as it hit on his helmet. This blow on the helmet seemed to be a serious one as the South African physios were on the field.

Earlier this, skipper Temba Bavuma also left the field after feeling some pain in his elbow. Meanwhile, it was quite a relief moment when Jansen was found smiling as Indian players got surrounded to check his condition.
Speaking about the match, Hardik Pandya (46 off 31 balls) and Dinesh Karthik (55 off 27 balls) helped India to reach 169 runs by losing six wickets. While chasing, South African batters were bamboozled as they got bundled out for 87 runs only. Avesh Khan was the star man with the ball as picked up four wickets by conceding 18 runs only.
This was South Africa’s lowest ever score in T20Is while it was India’s highest margin of victory over the Proteas in this shortest format of the game. After winning this one, India will look to continue this same momentum against them when they are going to face the series-decider in Bangalore on Sunday, 19 June 2022.
