The action in the ongoing Big Bash League 2022-23 continues to thrill the fans in the last few days. Recently, the 2015 champions, Sydney Thunders got all-out for a record total of 15 runs inside the powerplay. Meanwhile, in the seventh game of the tournament between the Thunders and 2017-18 winners, Melbourne Renegades, Nic Maddinson from the Renegades hit a 101-meter six at the Docklands Stadium.

The incident happened in the eighth over the Red Brigade’s (Renegades) innings. The over was bowled by Chris Green. On the second ball of the over, Maddinson deposited the ball into the stands. The White Kookaburra traveled 101 meters and landed in the top tier of the stadium. The video is doing rounds on the internet.

Talking about the game, Thunders, who were coming off a 15-run all-out disappointment. They batted first after winning the toss and amassed 174/6 at the end of the innings. For the Lime Green Brigade, Rilee Rossouw scored 53 while batters such as Alex Ross (39), Olivier Davies (33), and Chris Green (10*) played cameos. In reply, the Nic Maddinson-led side chase down the target in 19.5 overs.

Notably, the 2018 winners needed 10 runs in the last four balls. However, Aaron Finch’s hard-hitting made sure the team won the game with one ball to spare and four wickets in hand.

“It got a little bit stressful towards the end there. I think you’ve always got confidence in your ability to get the team home in a situation like that but you still need a six in that last over or a couple of boundaries and I was lucky enough to get one and then get my old legs back and forth a couple of times to get home. Close games are what it’s all about in T20 cricket. The margins are so small over a 14 game season. There might be 1 or 2 percent between every team in the competition but the teams that win those close games tend to make the finals,” Finch said in the post-match presentation.
