Pakistan vs South Africa is currently underway in the ODI World Cup 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Babar Azam won the toss and elected to bat first. During the game wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan and the Protea pacer Marco Jansen got involved in a heated argument. The incident took place when Rizwan tried to play a shot and the ball raced away for a boundary at the third-man area.

Jansen missed a tough catch on his own bowling in the very first ball when Rizwan came into bat when opener Imam-ul-Haq was dismissed in the 7th over. After that, the wicketkeeper slashed the ball and the third man was inside the 30-yard circle and it was a four. He got a bit frustrated after that and had a heated exchange with Rizwan. He once again said something to Rizwan after he played a dot ball. The wicketkeeper batter replied back with a smile as he put and spread his arms asking for a hug from the pacer.

The 31-year-old batter is Pakistan’s highest run scorer in the tournament so far.  This match is a must-win game for Pakistan to stay in the race for the semi-final. Pakistan started off the game well, but wickets at regular intervals created problems in a tricky wicket in Chennai. They were bowled out for 270 runs.

Rizwan achieves milestone

Mohammad Rizwan has scored 333 runs in 6 innings so far in the World Cup. He also completed 2,000 One Day international runs on Friday. He was later dismissed by Gerald Coetzee for 31 runs after hitting four fours and a six. The 31-year-old has 992 and is just 8 runs away from 1000 runs in the calendar year of 2023. Skipper Babar Azam once again failed to convert the 50 into a big score.

Shaud Shakeel and Shadab Khan’s 84-run stand for the 6th wicket let them score past 250 runs. The former scored 52 run-a-ball and the vice-captain scored 43 runs and vital 24 runs from Mohammad Nawaz helped Pakistan to score 270 runs. Pakistan bowlers need to come all guns blazing to stop the Proteas.
