On Sunday, June 18, during the eighth game of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2023 versus Dindigul Dragons, Siechem Madurai Panthers leg-spinner Murugan Ashwin pulled off a breathtaking flying catch. The outstanding performance came against the odds as Dindigul Dragons cruised to a seven-wicket triumph at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul.

In the TNPL 2023 match, Dindigul Dragons won the toss and decided to bowl first. To bundle out Siechem Madurai Panthers for 123 in 19.3 overs was a wonderful effort. Dindigul Dragons lost their starting pair of Shivam Singh (9) and Vimal Khumar (6) cheaply during the chase.

The chasing side was eventually brought down to 32/3 by Murugan Ashwin’s magnificent catch. Gurjapneet Singh, a left-arm bowler for Siechem Madurai Panthers, bowled a length delivery outside off stump that S Arun sliced. Ashwin rushed back and dove fully to make a spectacular catch.

Here’s the viral video:

Dindigul Dragons won the game with 35 balls to spare

After the wicket, the fielding team’s hopes were increased, but Baba Indrajith (78* off 48) and Adithya Ganesh (22* off 22) combined 92 runs for the fourth wicket in an unbroken partnership to lead Dindigul Dragons to a convincing victory in 14.1 overs. Indrajith’s blistering knock included seven fours and four sixes. Gurjapneet took all three of the wickets that fell for Siechem Madurai Panthers, finishing with figures of 3/18 from his four overs.

In the eighth game of the TNPL 2023, Dindigul Dragons chose to bat first, and Siechem Madurai Panthers produced a very poor batting performance. Hari Nishanth’s 24 off 26 was the next-best score in the innings, but Jagatheesan Kousik’s 45 off 34 balls was the top score for the Panthers.

Washington Sundar (12), Swapnil Singh (0), K. Deeban Lingesh (9), Sudhan Kandepan (0), and Ashwin (10) all fell easily, causing the middle and lower orders to collapse. Saravana Kumar recorded stats of 3/22 for the Dragons, and Suboth Bhati collected 3/19. Varun Chakaravarthy, who finished with 2/23 from his four overs, was also brilliant. Ravichandran Ashwin, the captain, was frugal, conceding only 21 runs in his four overs while also taking one wicket.
