Hyderabad was facing Gujarat in the 40th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The match was a thrilling affair as the two teams battled it out to the last ball of the match. A total of 394 runs were scored in the match and there was never a dull moment in the high-scoring thriller.

While batting first in the match Hyderabad scored 195 runs in the match from their 20 overs and set Gujarat a formidable target. The men in blue during their chase started brilliantly but lost the plot in the middle overs. At one stage the match looked to be over for them when half of their side was back in the hut and they required 56 runs from four overs. But from that stage, Rahul Tewatia (40 off 21) and Rashid Khan (31 off 11) pulled off an unreal heist to take Gujarat to victory by five wickets.

In the last over of the match Gujarat needed 22 runs, and the onus of bowling the over for Hyderabad was given to the South African Marco Jansen. He was slammed for four sixes three of which were hit by Rashid Khan. But the mistake on the bowler’s part seemed like he was persisting with full-length deliveries even after being taken to the cleaners.

The ploy from the bowler got into the nerves of Hyderabad’s spin bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan. Otherwise known as a cool customer Murali seemed animated as Jansen was hit for the third six of the over in the fifth ball. He was seen standing up from his seat and expressing his anger saying – “Why the f*** is he bowling full!!??”

This was evidence of the Sri Lankan veteran’s passion for the game. Even not being actively involved, Muralitharan got animated in a crunch situation of the match.
