Watch: Naseem Shah ‘cleans up’ Ben Stokes in first over of Day Two of Rawalpindi Test
England has had a great start in the ongoing first Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi. After winning the toss, the Three Lions elected to bat first and amassed 506/4 runs on the first day. It was a record-breaking day as the batting side became the first team to amass 500 runs on the first day of a Test match in the history of the game.
Also, not to forget, four players scored a century on the day. Meanwhile, in the ongoing second day, the visitors were in no mood to start slowly. Skipper Ben Stokes, who was batting on 34 and got on strike on the second ball of the day after a leg bye. The left-hander hit a six to continue his innings. However, on the last ball, the all-rounder tried to play with soft hands that cost him his wicket.

Talking about the game, the visitors amassed 657 all-out in 101 overs, at a run rate of more than six per over. This was also a record set by the team. They kept the scoreboard moving ‘even after losing regular wickets’ in the ongoing day. Harry Brook scored 153 which was the highest score for a batter in the innings.
In reply, the home team has gotten 108/0 in 33 overs before the Tea break was taken. Notably, the visitors are showing much more intent with the ball than Pakistan. They have set attacking fields throughout without reaping any rewards. On the other hand, Pakistan started spreading the field in the first session on December 1. It will be interesting to see if the wicket starts breaking and wickets fall later in the game. At the moment, the pitch is docile, just like it was the case in March this year against Australia.
