Watch: Pat Cummins’ heartwarming gesture towards Usman Khawaja wins hearts
It has been a dream start for Pat Cummins as Australia captain. Cummins was handed the Test leadership after Tim Paine took an indefinite break from cricket following involvement in a sexting scandal. The Cummins-led Australia played ruthless cricket and mauled England in the five-match series, winning the series 4-1.
England had a chance to salvage their pride in the final Test in Hobart when they bowled out Australia for 155 in their second innings, needing 271 runs to win the final Test. Despite getting off to a good start and adding 68 runs for the first wicket, England were bowled out for 124 runs.
Post the big win, Australians were set for big celebrations. However, Cummins did something that was lauded by one and all.
Cummins and the Australian team was on the podium celebrating the Ashes win. However, Usman Khawaja was not part of the group as him being a practising Muslim stays away from any form of alcohol. Cummins saw Khawaja standing away and immediately asked his teammates to stop shelling champagne and called Khawaja on the podium for a group photo.

This might be a small gesture but this is what makes Pat Cummins great. He realised Khawaja had to dip because of the booze and rectifies it. pic.twitter.com/GNVsPGJhfK
