 WATCH: Pramod Madushan’s toe-crushing yorker gets better of Fakhar Zaman in Asia Cup 2023

Pramod Madushan bowled a cracking delivery to get rid of Fakhar Zaman in the Super 4 stage of the 2023 Asia Cup. On a slow deck in Colombo, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Due to rain, the match was reduced to 45 overs. After the later interruptions, the match was reduced to 42 overs. It was crucial for Sri Lanka to have a good start. Madushan provided exactly that for the home side.

In the Powerplay overs, the right-arm medium-fast bowler bowled in a good channel. The 29-year-old troubled the Pakistani batters and caused mayhem at the top. Madushan bowled a maiden over and put pressure on the Pakistani batters. It forced the star openers like Zaman and Abdullah to do something different. In the process, Sri Lanka got the wicket of a dangerous batter like Fakhar, which was a very good start for their inning.

In the fifth over of the match, Madushan bowled a perfect yorker. The target was hit so well that the ball swung into the left-hander just enough and drew the bat-pad gap. The yorker was so accurate that the swing aided the ball to get the wicket of Zaman in one of the most perfect ways possible. It was a cracker of a delivery. Sri Lanka deserved to get the wicket of Zaman for the way they operated in the first few overs.

Pakistan surged ahead in the match

The start for Sri Lanka was vital. The base was set for a good bowling performance. The wicket of Zaman put pressure on Pakistan. In the process, there were wickets in the cluster for Sri Lanka by the 28th over, the home side had Pakistan at 130/5 by dismissing the likes of Fakhar Zaman, Abdullah Shafique, Babar Azam, Mohammad Haris, and Mohammad Nawaz.

Till that point, Sri Lanka dominated the match. Unfortunately, the later stage of the match proved to be bad for Sri Lanka. In the last 14.2 overs, Pakistan managed to score 122 runs at a run rate of 8.6. It was very productive and helped Pakistan to get past the mark of 250 runs on the board.
