On 22 July 2022, India was scheduled to play the three-match ODI series opener against West Indies. Star players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were given a rest from this series. Hence, Shikhar Dhawan got the chance to lead the side. However, India managed to continue their winning momentum in West Indies also as they won the match eventually, by three runs only.
The match turned into a last-ball thriller as finally, India kept their cool to come out victorious. But, India’s current head coach, Rahul Dravid did not find it relaxing at all as he lost his cool in the last over of the match. Rahul Dravid was not happy with India’s bowling performance while defending a 309-run target
Speaking about the video, the Board shared it with a caption: “No shortage of action & emotions! Scenes as #TeamIndia seal a thrilling win in the first #WIvIND ODI in Trinidad” In the video, it was seen that both teams were sitting in the stands side by side. The Indian head coach and other players were looked at in different moods during the match.
However, in the last over, Mohammed Siraj was bowling when 15 runs were required for West Indies. Ahead of the last ball of that over, Dravid was seen losing his calm. It seemed like he was not completely happy with the field placement. Still, Siraj managed to pull it off in favour of India in the first ODI.
Speaking of the match, India was asked to bat first as they scored 308 runs by losing seven wickets. Shikhar Dhawan was the player of the match for his 97-run knock-off 99 balls. In reply, West Indies batters fought hard but still managed to score only 305 runs in 50 overs. The second ODI match is scheduled to take palace at the Queen’s Park Oval on 24 July 2022.
