The Super 12 game of the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022 between India and Pakistan turned out to be as promised. It was anticipated as the high-octane encounter since it was announced of the game early this year. Talking about the game, India won the toss and elected to bowl first on a green surface. As it turned out, Arshdeep Singh made the most of the condition as he took the wickets of Babar Azam and Mohammad Nawaz.

India could have had a third wicket right after the powerplay if not for Ravichandran Ashwin making a mess of the catch. The likes of Shan Masood and Iftikhar Ahmed took the team forward. Notably, the middle-order batting of the Green Brigade has been under severe criticism. However, middle-order batters such as Masood and Ahmed scored half-centuries to keep their team in the game.

Even though seven batters failed to cross the double-digit mark, the 2009 winners managed to score 159/8. Shaheen Afridi finished the game with a cameo of unbeaten 16 runs off just eight balls. In reply, India lost four wickets for just 31 runs. At this stage, the end looked nigh for the former champions. However, the likes of former skipper Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya stitched a partnership of 113 runs to keep the team in the game.

In the end, the former ensured that the team got over the line to kick off their campaign. After the game, skipper Rohit Sharma lifted Kohli on his shoulders. On the other hand, Pandya got emotional remembering his father during the post-match ceremony.
