On 12 July 2022, India kicked off their three-match ODI series against England at the Oval. Ahead of the 50-over World Cup in 2023, India was looking to get a good start in this series while Jos Buttler was looking to open his ODI captaincy account on a winning note.

However, Virat Kohli missed the match as he got injured due to a groin issue. Hence, India set their playing XI without him with a strong pace bowling line-up of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Prasidh Krishna. Speaking about the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first.

While batting first, England batters find it difficult to score against India as their batting collapsed completely. No batters were able to stitch a significant partnership as they got bundled out for 110 runs in just 25.2 overs. However, while chasing the target of 111 runs, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan started brilliantly. But, an unwanted thing happened when Rohit Sharma’s one-six hit a little girl, who was enjoying the match from Oval’s stands. The video got viral quickly and got circulated over the Internet.

England physios were sent quickly to check her after that accident

Speaking about the incident, it was the third ball of the fifth over of India’s innings when David Willey was bowling to Rohit Sharma. It was a short ball and Rohit came up with his traditional hook shot as he smashed that ball to the leg side for a six.

But, the ball went and hit straight a little girl who was sitting in the stands. It was a completely unwanted scene at the Oval as the little spectator got hit by a ball. England physios were sent quickly to check her if she needed any further assistance.

Speaking of the match, India is currently cruising to a comfortable victory as they are now at 76 runs by losing no wicket in just 15.2 overs. Both Rohit Sharma (47*) and Shikhar Dhawan (22*) are on the crease.
