Kolkata and Rajasthan have gifted the fans with two thrillers in the Indian T209 League 2022. Both the times the two teams met in the tournament the affairs went down the wire. While the first match was a high-scoring thriller the second match turned out to be a -low-scoring thriller.

Speaking of their second encounter, Kolkata and Rajasthan faced each other in the 47th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Kolkata won the toss and decided to field first in the match. The bowlers of the Knight camp did a great job in restricting Rajasthan for 152 runs in their 20 overs.

In the second inning, the Rajasthan bowlers did a great job in trying to keep Kolkata from reaching the target by picking up regular intervals. But a partnership between Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh saw Kolkata reach home with seven wickets in hand. The match went to the last over and as things got tense, Sanju Samson started to get frustrated whenever a decision went against his team.

Samson even signaled for a DRS when he felt that the umpire’s call for a wide was not justified. DRS is generally taken by skippers regarding decisions involving dismissals. So, this was a rare occasion where a skipper was looking to take a DRS for a wide ball call.

Notably, there were a few controversial wide calls in the match which prompted experts like Daniel Vettori to suggest that wide ball calls are also included within DRS calls.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan’s defeat against Kolkata was their second consecutive one in the tournament. On the other hand, the Men in Purple registered their fourth win from 10 matches in the tournament. With the win in the match, Kolkata ended their five-match losing streak.
