Watch: Shimron Hetmyer celebrates his fiancee’s birthday with Rajasthan teammates
Rajasthan, on Monday, beat Kolkata in a high-scoring thriller by seven runs. Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal were the architects of the team’s win. Jos Buttler scored his second hundred of the season and helped his team get to a gigantic total of 217 runs. He hit nine fours and five sixes in the innings. Shimron Hetmyer also played a brilliant cameo of 26 not out from 13 balls to help set up the total.
In the chase, captain Shreyas Iyer (85 runs in 51 balls) and Aaron Finch (58 runs in 28 balls) stitched a great partnership of 107 runs in 53 balls, but Yuzvendra Chahal had other plans. The leg spinner picked up his first-ever five-wicket haul in the tournament and completed his hat trick as well. This restricted Kolkata to 210, and Rajasthan won the match by seven runs.
Post the match, the team had another reason to celebrate as Shimorn Hetmyer’s fiancee, Nirvani had her birthday. In a video put up by Rajasthan’s official Twitter handle, The West Indian was seen celebrating with his teammates. Captain Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag, among others, were present at the time. Samson was also seen stuffing the cake in Hetmyer’s ear.
“Celebrating birthdays of near and dear ones – it’s a #RoyalsFamily thing. Happy birthday, Nirvani, from @SHetmyer and team,” was the caption of the tweet.
