Shimron Hetmyer failed to contribute with the bat as New Zealand won the match by 13 runs
Speaking of the video, Martin Guptill came out to open the innings for New Zealand. Odeon Smith was bowling in the eight over. It was the third ball of that over which Guptill sliced hard to the offside. Shimron Hetmyer was there and he took an absolute blinder with only one hand at the boundary rope.
Speaking of the match, West Indies won the toss and asked the Kiwis to bat first. All batters of the Kiwis chipped in with some contributions. Therefore, they put up a score of 185 runs by losing five wickets in 20 overs. Meanwhile, the skipper Kane Williamson was the highest scorer for his 47 runs off 33 balls.
In reply, the West Indies batter failed to show any fight once again. Players like Shimron Hetmyer and Kyle Mayers failed miserably to score any significant runs. Hence, they ended up only scoring 172 runs in 20 overs. While batting down the order, Romario Shepherd tried to put a fight by scoring 31* runs off 16 balls only, at a strike rate of 193.75. At the top, Shamarh Brooks also scored 42 runs off 43 balls, including two fours and three sixes. Hence, West Indies lost the series opener. Now, they will look to make a comeback in the second match against New Zealand on 12 August 2022.
