Meanwhile, in a video that is going viral, Iyer snatched the phone of Dhawan. After this, the latter chased the youngster down and Iyer gestured to his senior player to calm down. Shikhar Dhawan has been dropped from the ODI side

Meanwhile, the left-hander was dropped from the ODI squad ahead of the home series against Sri Lanka last month. His last series was against Bangladesh and he couldn’t do well. However, this wasn’t the only reason for his omission. Last year, the Delhi player played 22 games and could only manage 688 runs at an average of 34.40 and a strike rate of 74.21 including six fifties.

He has been replaced by Shubman Gill who has been in the form of his life. The 2013 Champions Trophy winner would have a realistic opportunity to do well during the Indian T20 League 2023. After all, the Vijay Hazare Trophy was played a few months back and the next edition won’t be played before the ODI World Cup. On the other hand, Iyer has also been ruled out of the first Test of the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Ahead of the New Zealand series, the Mumbaikar sustained a back injury. Meanwhile, the Kolkata skipper in the Indian T20 League would be looking to make himself available for the rest of the series.
