The 24-year-old India batter Shubman Gill smashed his bat in anger as he missed out on his fourth Test century in the third Test against England in Rajkot. Gill was dismissed after scoring 91 runs at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.

India got a positive start on day 4 with Gill starting the day at 65 and nightwatchman Kuldeep Yadav in the middle. Gill missed out on a well-deserved century on Day 4 in Rajkot. He was run out in the morning session on Day 4 after a mix-up with Kuldeep Yadav.

It was Kuldeep’s call. Gill went for a run at the non-striker’s end, but when he turned back, he saw Kuldeep was saying no to his call. The Punjab lad already reached the middle of the pitch. He put in a dive, but he never looked confident. He couldn’t cover the ground in time. Left-arm Spinner Tom Hartley took the bails off and ran out Gill in the 64th over. This was the second time in his career that Gill was dismissed in the 90s. The first time he got out at 91 on day 5 in Gabba. However, he helped India to register a historic win.

On Day 3, After the early dismissal of skipper Rohit Sharma, Gill and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal had a crucial partnership of 155 runs. They took India into a comfortable position. 22-year-old Jaiswal completed his third Test ton as Gill scored a beautiful half-century before he was retired hurt at 104. Rajat Patidar made a 10-ball duck. Then, night watchman Kuldeep Yadav came to the crease.

Gill formed a 50-plus partnership with Kuldeep Yadav to create further pressure on England on Day 4. Because of their well-paced partnership, India takes their score past 250 before lunch and their lead close to 400 runs.

Shubman Gill has been under tremendous pressure since moving to a new position at number 3 in Test cricket. He dropped down from the opener’s spot after Yashasvi Jaiswal fit into the team as an opener. Gill had a poor outing in Hyderabad, but he came back with a thumping ton at Visakhapatnam in the second Test.
