The ongoing second ODI between New Zealand and India has been interrupted by the rain. Before the rain break, the Men In Blue were asked to bat first at Seddon Park, Hamilton. The likes of stand-in skipper Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill took the team to 22/ in 4.5 overs before the forced break. The game has been paused for quite a long time.

Meanwhile, India middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav decided to ‘speak’ to one of the groundsmen trying to clear the rainwater. In the video that is going viral, the right-hander was seen interacting with one of the members of staff. Even though the audio of the chat between the two is not there, the commentator on air was heard praising the India player.

Talking about the game, it has finally resumed after relentlessly raining for a long time. The groundstaff has managed to clear the ground and the officials have deemed the surface ‘fit’ to continue the game. For obvious reasons, the game has been reduced to 29 overs a side. Talking about the playing conditions, the mandatory powerplay will be applicable till the sixth over which is already in progress.

At the time of writing, Dhawan has lost his wicket and Yadav has come out to bat. Meanwhile, after the ongoing sixth over, four fielders will be allowed outside the circle till the 23rd over. In the last six overs, the fielding side will be having the luxury of putting an extra fielder on the boundary. However, the fielding side will vary of Yadav’s threat with the willow. In the T20Is, he has hit two centuries and many fifties this year.

Not to forget, the Mumbaikar’s ability to find boundaries despite having five fielders on the fence in itself is a big headache for the fielding teams. With only four fielders for the next few overs, Surya would be looking to get as many runs as possible.
