On 2 August 2022, India faced the West Indies for the third T20I of the five-match T20I series. After winning the series opener, India tasted a defeat in the second match. But, India came out victorious in the third T20I. Suryakumar Yadav was the star of the show with his brilliant knock of 76 runs off 44 balls only.

However, Yadav came up with a fantastic gesture after winning the game for India. He was seen engaging with fans and signing autographs. The video got viral and surfaced quickly over the internet. The Indian Cricket Board also shared the same video on Twitter. In the caption, the Board wrote: “Match-winning knock. Heartwarming gesture. @surya_14kumar appreciates the support of the fans after #TeamIndia’s win in the third T20I!”

Speaking of the match, India picked Deepak Hooda in the playing XI for this match. While, West Indies brought another left-arm bowler, Dominic Drakes into their lineup. Meanwhile, India won the toss and opted to field first. India again went with the opening pair of the skipper Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav in this match. 

West Indies put up a fighting total of 164 runs by losing five wickets in 20 overs. Kyle Mayers scored 73 runs off 50 balls, including eight fours and four sixes. In reply, India pulled off the run-chase in just 19 overs. Suryakumar Yadav scored 76 runs off 44 balls, including eight fours and four sixes. He batted at a strike rate of 172.72.

Meanwhile, after the match, Yadav also opened up on his batting approach throughout the innings. He said: “When Rohit went inside it was important for someone to bat through to the 17th over but I was still able to be myself and express myself. I really loved it because I have done it in the Indian T20 League as well. I just backed myself and enjoyed it.”
