After a long wait, the second season of a famous documentary series, ‘The Test’ will be released next year. In the first season, it was about showcasing the team’s journey after the infamous Sandpaper Gate in early 2018 to retaining the Ashes in 2019. In between, the leadership group of the team was changed. With Steve Smith and David Warner suspended, Tim Paine took over.

On the other hand, after Darren Lehmann’s exit, Justin Langer became the head coach. During the series, it showcased the mental impact on the players after the losses (referring to a 5-0 loss to England in the 2018 ODI series and losing to India at home in Border Gavaskar Trophy). On the other hand, it also showcased Langer’s occasional outbursts on the team’s poor performance.

Now, in season two, it will interesting to see which parts of Australian cricket have been showcased. In the trailer released by Amazon Prime, the controversies of Tim Paine and Langer have taken centerstage. For the unversed, Paine had to leave Australia’s Test captaincy after his past ‘obscene activities’ were revealed in the media. On the other hand, Langer was offered a short-term contract which he denied and resign.

This episode became an uproar in Aussie cricket with a lot of former colleagues of the opening batter standing for him.

Recently, Langer expressed his frustration over the episode. He even called them ‘cowards’.

“Everyone was being nice to my face,” the former opening batsmen told News Corp.

“But I was reading about this stuff and half of it, I swear to God and on my kids’ lives, I could not believe that is what was making the papers. A lot of journalists use the word ‘source’. I would say, change that word to ‘coward’.

“Because what do you mean ‘a source says’? They’ve either got an axe to grind with someone and they won’t come and say it to your face, or they’re just leaking stuff for their own agenda. I hate that.”
