Umesh Yadav showed why he is a force to reckon with in Indian conditions as he produced a remarkable spell of bowling in the Third Test at Indore. He picked up 3-12 in his five-over spell. On a pitch where the Indian spinners initially struggled to get wickets, Umesh proved that he was worth his weight in gold. He picked up the wickets of Cameron Green which was an important scalp for India and then cleaned up the Australian tail by picking up the wickets of Mitchell Starc and Todd Murphy.

He produced an outstanding delivery to get rid of Australian pace spearhead Starc. It was a ball that was angled into him and Starc played the original line, but the ball held its line and beat the outside edge and then crashes into the off stump.

Starc also acknowledged what a wonderful ball it was and was stunned to get out in that fashion. Starc made a comeback into the Australian side after his finger injury. He replaced Pat Cummins who flew back to Australia after the second Test at Delhi to attend to his ailing mother.

Umesh Yadav also made 17 off 13 balls with one four and two sixes for India

Umesh also with the dismissal of Starc picked up his 100th wicket in India. The Vidarbha pacer also made 17 off 13 balls with one four and two sixes while batting which stretched India’s first innings score past a 100. India were all out for 109 in the first innings after a below-par show with the bat.

Umesh has been an absolute beast in Indian conditions as he has picked 101 wickets at home at an average of 24.53 and at a stunning economy rate of 3.18. Umesh has proved his worth time and again on spin friendly conditions and has been the go-to bowler for the national side at home.

In a stunning session that turned the tables in the match, Australia lost their last six wickets for a mere addition of 12 runs. India have taken a 2-0 lead in the series and will look to win the series 3-0, or 3-1 to stand a chance of qualifying for the Test Championship final which will be held in England in June. India lost the last Test Championship Final against New Zealand in 2021 when it was held in England.
