As Axar Patel breached his defence on the first ball after tea in the third session of Day 2, Usman Khawaja’s remarkable century performance in the fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test against India ultimately came to an end. Khawaja attempted to push a relatively straight delivery from Axar, who had already bowled 20 overs in the innings, to the on-side, but he unexpectedly missed the delivery’s line and was struck just in front of the stumps.

Axar, stand-in captain Cheteshwar Pujara, and wicketkeeper KS Bharat had a brief conversation following the umpire’s rejection of the Indian appeals before Pujara signaled for DRS. Khawaja’s tenacious stay at the crease came to an end after the review revealed that the ball would have in fact hit the stumps. The opener had scored an incredible 180 from 422 deliveries, setting an Australian record for the longest innings on Indian soil (in terms of deliveries faced).

Ravichandran Ashwin was India’s star on Day 2

But, it appeared that Virat Kohli didn’t think Khawaja was out at the time. As the replays on the massive screen proved otherwise, the star India batter’s reaction was priceless. The videos have already gone viral online with fans reacting to the same.

Here’s the viral video:

Ravichandran Ashwin helped the side in the same match by giving the hosts to back-to-back wickets in the 131st over. He dismissed set batsmen Cameron Green and Alex Carey, who had a 208-run partnership with Usman Khawaja. Alex Carey was then dismissed for a four-ball duck. Indian fans’ fervour was revived by Ashwin’s subsequent dismissals. He then made another excellent delivery to get rid of Mitchell Starc.

Both teams place a lot of weight on the last test. The visitors want to avoid losing a third straight Test series to India, while the hosts are playing for a position in the Global Test Championship final. Notably, India won the last two BGT Test series in India and have retained the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy after winning two Tests of the four-Test series already.
