Rajasthan was facing Bangalore in Qualifier 2 of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. A spot in the finals of the 15th edition of the India T20 League was at stake. But given the importance of the match, it turned out to be a rather one-sided affair. Rajasthan dominated the match in all aspects of the game and emerged as the convincing winner in the match.

But besides Rajasthan’s performance in the match, it was the intrusion of a fan in the math that grabbed the attention of the spectators. An excited fan invaded the pitch to touch Virat Kohli.  Kohli was at the crease after Sanju Samson invited Bangalore to bat first in the match. The fan ran onto the pitch and tried to shake hands with the star Indian cricketer.

The young man was only able to touch Kohli’s glove. The star cricketer put his hand forward to avoid the intrusion. The incident occurred just after the first ball of the match. A group of ground security personnel chased the fan and took the invader out of the ground.

This is the second incident of a pitch invasion in two consecutive matches. During the eliminator of the tournament, a man intruded on the match and went running towards Kohli. The star cricketer was fielding in the boundary at the time and signaled the young man to not come close to him. The fan obliged and then security personnel carried him off the ground on his shoulder. The incident amused the fans and Kohli was also left in splits.

Even though Virat Kohli is going through a drought of runs for the last couple of years, there seems to be no dent in the huge fan base that he enjoys across the country.

Speaking of the match, Kohli failed to leave his impact on the game as he just scored 7 runs off 8 deliveries. It was Rajat Patidar’s half-century that helped Bangalore post a total of 157 runs in their 20 overs. Jos Buttler scored a brilliant century and remained unbeaten on 106 runs off 60 deliveries to take his team to win by 7 wickets with 11 balls remaining in the match. Rajasthan will now be playing Gujarat in the finals of the tournament on 29th May at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
