World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) fans are upbeat with the last three months of the calendar year. The fans are now looking forward to the WWE Payback Premium Live Event. The event is set to take place on 2nd September from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.

Wrestling has been stacked this year with both World Wrestling Entertainment and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) showcasing its talents. Both companies have given fans moments to remember in 2023. WWE gave the biggest storyline yet with the Bloodline Saga, while AEW has done its best with its own various storylines.

Bubba Ray Dudley who is now a regular podcast host was recently speaking about the best wrestler of 2023. The 52-year-old is a legend in the wrestling industry with a career spanning nearly 32 years.

Bubba Ray Dudley names Roman Reigns as the Wrestler of the Year 

With a strong 2023, both WWE and AEW will have their performers to be counted as the best of the year. Bubba Ray Dudley though has named Roman Reigns as the Wrestler of the year. The 52-year-old made these comments on his show Busted Open Radio with host David LaGreca.

Bubba Ray Dudley said “To me, the wrestler of the year is the person who has drawn the most money, put the most a**es on the seats, and he has the tide the highest. That’s Roman Reigns to me “

Roman Reigns has become a worldwide phenomenon ever since he turned heel in 2020. The 38-year-old made a dramatic return during the WWE Summerslam event in 2020 event. Reigns attacked the then WWE Universal champion Late Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman post their match. It was at the Payback event of 2020 that Reigns won the WWE Universal title. That same year during the Survivor Series event, Reigns also claimed the WWE RAW title by beating Drew McIntyre.

Reigns has been the champion for over 1000 days now which is the most in the current era of wrestling. AEW has also had a strong 2023 with the AEW ALL-IN event in Wembley Stadium setting a record as far as attendance is concerned. All Elite Wrestling has seen some really strong performers in the form of Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, and Brian Danielson putting up some good matches. Current champion MJF and Orange Cassidy though have done well during 2023 to stake their claim for the wrestler of the year.
