Argentina legend Lionel Messi has one of the biggest fan following among the football players in the current era. Currently, he is playing for Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League 2022-23. The club is set to play Portuguese club Benfica at the Estadio da Luz on October 11. Meanwhile, with a little less than a week away, the excitement around the game is building up.

On October 4, the fans gathered outside the hotel where PSG players have been accommodated in Lisbon. They wanted to catch a glimpse of their idol Lionel Messi. A young fan was spotted wearing a Pink Jersey with Messi’s name on his back. The other fans were shooting a video of the legend and chanting his name repeatedly.

Talking about both teams, the PSG and Benfica, they are sitting in the top two positions of the points. In the last five games between the two teams, two have been won by the PSG, one by Benfica, and one ended in a draw. The upcoming game between the two teams is anticipated to be a mouth-watering one. Recently, both teams played each other and the game ended in a draw.

During that game, Messi set yet another record with a sublime opening goal. With the opening score for his side, the Argentine superstar became the first player in Champions League history to score goals against 40 different opponents. However, the happiness was short-lived as Enzo Fernandez scored in the 41st minute. Messi scored in the 22nd minute of the game. The result means that both teams remain level on points at the top of Group H after three matches. Now, both teams will play each other once again on October 11.
