‘We are on right track…’ – FC Goa’s midfielder Edu Bedia opens up post win against NorthEast United FC
The Indian Super League 2022/23 is ongoing and the teams are giving it their all to make an impact, given the tournament is highly competitive and the margin of error is very less. As things stand, FC Goa are one of the teams that are faring out well and the Gaurs managed to win their last two games against Odisha FC and NorthEast United FC (NEUFC).
As things stand, the Gaurs’ next mission will be against Jamshedpur and it remains to be seen if they could carry on with the momentum that they gained against the NorthEast United FC, eventually winning the game with a scoreline of 2-1 on the back of goals from Edu Bedia and Iker Guarrotxena.
Ahead of the match against Jamshedpur, Bedia opened up on his stint with the team and the game against Odisha FC as well. Saying that NEUFC gave them a tough fight the other day, the Spaniard claimed that it was no less than a hard-fought win, although one could argue that their opponents are going through a tough time in the contest.
We did well in parts against them: Edu Bedia
Saying that his team did well against the Highlanders, Bedia claimed that it would be essential to keep the focus and carry on with the momentum. The star footballer highlighted on the upcoming schedule and said that those matches will be important for the team to make progress in what can be called the toughest football tournament in India.
“I know they (NEUFC) are going through tough times, but they’re a good side just like every other team in this league. They gave us a tough fight, and are surely going to start winning matches soon. We did well in parts against them, but could have done much better. We lost focus before the final whistle, as a result of which we lost what could have been our fifth clean sheet this season,” Bedia was quoted as saying.
“Focus is important, because only then can we compete for the top honours. We have important matches coming up, and we hope to take forward the learnings from today and secure more points. This was an important result. Previously, we were struggling in terms of consistency where we would win a game but lose the next, and so on. We’ve now won two matches on the bounce – it shows we’re on the right track but there’s plenty of room for improvement as well,” he added.
