The 16th edition of the Asia Cup is scheduled to kick start on August 30. The tournament will take place in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The first match of the tournament is set to be played between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan, Pakistan. The last edition of the Asia Cup was won by Sri Lanka, which was played in the United Arab Emirates.
Ahead of the Asia Cup 2023, former India skipper Virat Kohli praised the Pakistan skipper Babar Azam while talking to Star Sports about the rivalry between the two players. The Asia Cup is just a few days away, and this statement from the 34-year-old will add more interest in the India Vs Pakistan fixture. Kohli asserted on Star Sports that he met Babar in the ODI World Cup 2019 and instantly knew this batter was special.
India and Pakistan to lock horns on October 14 in ODI World Cup 2023
Pakistan all-rounder, Imad Wasim arranged a meeting between the two batters after the India Vs Pakistan game in the ODI World Cup 2019. “We sat down and spoke about the game. I saw a lot of regard and respect from him from day one, and that hasn’t changed. Regardless of the fact he’s probably the top batsman in the world across formats, and rightly so,” Kohli was quoted as saying in a show on Star Sports.
India will lock horns with Pakistan in their opening fixture of Asia Cup 2023 which will take place at Kandy, in Sri Lanka on September 2, 2023. They might likely meet again at the Super 4 stage if they both advance to the next round. If both of them get to the finals, they may face each other a third time at the Asia Cup. After the Asia Cup 2023, both teams will play each other on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, in Ahmedabad for their ODI World Cup 2023 fixture.
