‘Well bowled gogi’ – Fans react as Arshdeep Singh’s last over heroics earn India close win vs Australia in Bengaluru
India won the final game of the 5-match T20 series against Australia to take the series 4-1. If it wasn’t for the Glenn Maxwell century in Guwahati India would have won the series with a 5-0 margin.
The fifth game of the series began with a slight delay due to rain. Matthew Wade wanted to make use of the slippery conditions in the field and chose to bowl first. Both sides made one change each Nathan Ellis was back in place of Chris Green. Arshdeep Singh was back in the team for Deepak Chahar.
Team India will next be seen playing South Africa in a tour which has 3 T20I’s, 3 ODI’s and 2 Test matches. Suryakumar Yadav will continue to lead the Indians in the absence of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya.
India beat Australia in nail-biting fashion –
Indian Cricket Team won the final game of the series by 7 runs to take home the series 4-1. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad found the going tough early in the game. The two Indian batters found going tough on a pitch wasn’t conducive for batting. Like in the previous games Yashasvi Jaiswal gave India a quick start before falling for 21.
India then lost two wickets in quick time as Ruturaj Gaikwad was out for 10. His wicket was followed by Suryakumar Yadav becoming the second wicket for Ben Dwarshius. Tanveer Sangha then struck gold when he had the big wicket of Rinku Singh for 6.
Shreyas Iyer continued his good form with the bat as he scored his 8th T20I half-century for India. Jitesh Sharma swung his bat for 24 runs off 16 balls, while Axar Patel scored 31 to help India reach 160 for 8 from their 20 overs.
Travis Head’s torment of Indian bowlers continued when he gave his team a great start. Mukesh Kumar got the 1st wicket when he bowled Josh Phillipe for four. Ravi Bishnoi then got the ball to spin past Travis Head to bowl him out for 28. The Indian leggie struck again when he had Aaron Hardie caught by Shreyas Iyer for 6.
Axar Patel then broke the 47-run stand between Tim David and Ben McDermott. Tim David was out for 17 as Avesh Khan took a good diving catch. Ben McDermott got his 2nd T20 half-century before Arshdeep Singh dismissed him for 54.
Mukesh Kumar then struck twice in two balls when he had Matthew Short caught for 16. The right-arm pacer then had Dwarshius out for bowled for a 1st ball duck.
Avesh Khan conceded 15 runs in the 18th over to get the opposition back into the contest. The 19th over saw just 7 runs being scored with Australia needing 10 runs of the final over. Arshdeep Singh then got the wicket of Matthew Wade to seal the deal for his team.
